Musician – Composer – Bridge-builder
Anton Tonč Feinig, born in 1971 in Klagenfurt, is a pianist, singer, composer, and producer. He is one of the most significant voices in the bilingual cultural landscape of Carinthia. His music blends jazz, classical, folk music, pop, and improvisatory freedom into a unique musical language – always open, connecting, and deeply rooted in the Alps-Adriatic region.
Tonč Feinig studied jazz piano in Klagenfurt and The Hague. His artistic foundation is jazz, but his music transcends genre boundaries and thrives on dialogue with a wide range of influences. Improvisation, for him, is not just a technique, but an attitude – an expression of freedom, respect, and encounter.
As a bandleader, he has released numerous albums, including:
• We’ll See (2001), Bite (2004) – Tonč Feinig Quartet
• Fuzzroom (2008), Live at Step (2010) – with Fine Noise feat. Miles Griffith
• Shine (2019) – his first album as a singer
• Songs from Home (2023) – modern arrangements of Carinthian folk songs in German and Slovenian
• Folk Song (2020) – duo with Edgar Unterkirchner
In addition, Feinig is active in various formations and ensembles – from intimate jazz trios to the ten-piece All-Star Band Tonč Feinig & Friends – Live. His new project Tonč Feinig & The Little Big Band represents groovy, multifaceted music blending jazz, pop, and world music.
Aside from his artistic work, Feinig is committed to cultural mediation: collaborating with choirs, in music education, through workshops, or as a long-time member of the Carinthian Cultural Committee (2013–2023), where he headed the music advisory board from 2019.
Whether performing live on stage, recording in the studio, or arranging behind the scenes, Tonč Feinig creates spaces where music touches, connects, and opens new perspectives.
